As a self proclaimed makeup junkie, I have spent hours on end in Sephora watching lipsticks and even more time watching YouTube tutorials. I have dedicated a lot of time and energy over the years to perfecting my skills. This dedication is second only to my commitment to my career and by extension my GPA. So why not tell the story of both? Here is the timeline of my finals week, as told by my ride-or-die cosmetics collection.
Two weeks before finals week, stress levels are rising but you are trying to keep it under control.
Not only is it the exact situation where I would use a face mask, it is also the perfect metaphor for trying to fix problems before they appear. I often use the Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask.
You get several cups of coffees to prepare you for all your studying and writing.
There are some long nights ahead of you, just like there are lots of other steps before you finish your makeup. To make the makeup last and to you maintain your stamina during these study sessions, use primer. I’ve enjoyed using the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer-Radience which adds a little glow underneath my liquid foundation.
You write yourself a to-do list.
In order to set yourself up with a good base, make an outline and put on some foundation. It will help your end results for both look so much better. A drugstore favorite of mine is the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte.
You’ve missed one or two classes during the semester so you do the optional extra credit assignment.
Mistakes are made in the classroom and at the mirror. It happens to the best of us. Thankfully those extra credit points and products like the Tarte Shape Tape will fix all errors. Or at lease cover them up a bit.
Time for the final spell check.
You are so close to finishing, and you want to make sure the paper sounds great and the makeup looks good. A great solution: translucent powder. My go-to product is the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder.
You give yourself a pep talk before your presentations.
My ultimate confidence booster is a great lipstick and a good pep talk. I wear a lipstick that I know won’t wear off as I bite my lip if I’m nervous or fade while I present. For me that is any of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks in any shade, but definitely in Bow N Arrow.
You just turned everything in.
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray is designed to lock in all of your hard work and make it last. The same can be said for hitting that submit button on Canvas or Blackboard.
Its finally over and you can celebrate!
You can finally rejoice! Thank God its all over. Just like the feeling of walking out of your last exam, taking off a full face of makeup is a joyful experience. My favorite makeup wipes are the sensitive skin ones from Simple.
Now you are ready enjoy break!
The celebrations are over and now all you have to worry about is relaxation. The best way to unwind is with a hot bath and that of course means a Lush bath bomb.
Thankfully there is only one last round of finals left for me! Thank god for these products for getting me through the last several semesters.
